To globally enable PortFast by default on a ll access ports, use the spanning-tree portfast default
command. To disable PortFast as def ault on all access ports, us e the no form of this command.

Defaults Por tFast is disabled.

Usage Guidelines
Caution Use this command only with the interfaces that connect to end stations; otherwise, an accidental
topology loop could cause a data packet loop and disrupt th e Catalyst 4500 series switch and ne twork
operation.
An interface with PortFast mode enabled is moved directly to the spanning-tree forwarding state when
linkup occurs without waiting for the standard forward-time delay.
You can enable PortFast mode on individual inte rfaces using the s panni ng-t ree por tfast (i nte rfac e
configuration mode) command.
Examples This exampl e shows how to globally enabl e PortFast by default on all acc ess ports:
