To set the redundancy mode, use the mode command.

mode {rpr | sso}

Syntax Description

Defaults If you are upgra ding the current super visor engine from Cisc o IOS Release 12.2(18)EW or an earlier

release to 12.2(20)EWA, and the RPR mode has been saved to the startup configuration, both supervisor

engines will continue to operate in RPR mode after the software u pgrade. To use SSO mode, y ou must

manually change the redundancy mod e to SSO.

Usage Guidelines RPR and SSO mode are not supported on Cata lyst 4500 series switc hes that are configured with

Supervisor Engine 2.

The mode command can be entered only from within re dundancy configurat ion mode.

Follow these guidelines when configur ing your system to RPR or SS O mode:

• You must use identical Cisco IOS image s and supervisor engi nes to support RPR and SSO mode .

Redundancy may not wo rk due t o differe nces betw een the Cisco IOS release and su pervisor engi ne

capabilities.

• Any modules that are not online at the time of a switchover are reset and reloaded on a switchover.

• If you perform an OIR of the modu le within 60 seconds before a stateful switchover, the modul e

resets during the stateful switc hover and the port states are restarted.

• The FIB tables are cleared on a switchover. Routed traffic is interrupted until route tables

reconverge.

The redundant supervisor engin e reloads on any mode change and begins to work in the current m ode.

Examples This example shows how to set the redundancy mode to S SO:
