errdisable detect

To enable error-disable detection, use the errdisable detect command. To disable the error-disable

detection feature, use the no form of this command.

Usage Guidelines A cause (dtp-flap, l ink-flap, pagp-flap) is defined as the reason why th e error-disabled state occurred.

When a cause is detected on an interface, the interface is placed in error-disabled state (an operational

state that is similar to link-down state).

You must enter the shutdown command and then the no shutdown command to recover an interface

manually from the error-disa ble state.

To prevent the port from shutting down, yo u can use the shutdown vlan option to shut down just the

offending VLAN on the port where the violation occured. This option is available for the following three

causes: bpduguar d, arp-insp ection, and d hcp-rate-limit. You can use the clear errdisable command to

recover disabled VLANs on a port.

cause Specifies error-disable detection to detect a specific cause.

all Specifies error-disable detection for all error-disable causes.

arp-inspection Specifies the detection for the ARP inspection error-disable cause.

action shutdown vlan (Optional) Specifies per-VLAN error-disable for ARP inspection and DHCP

rate limiting.
