Prerequisites for the Cisco SM-X Layer 2/3 EtherSwitch Service
Module
The Cisco IOS version on the Cisco SM-X Layer 2/3 EtherSwitch Service Modules must be compatible
with the Cisco IOS software release and feature set on the router. See Table 1.
• To view the router (Cisco 4451-X ISR), Cisco IOS software release, and feature set, enter the show
version command in privileged EXEC mode.
• To view the Cisco SM-X Layer 2/3 ESM IOS XE version, enter the show platform software subslot
slot/bay module firmware command in privileged EXEC mode.
