GBIC_SECURITY_UNIQUE Messages
GBIC_SECURITY_UNIQUE Messages
This section contains the Cisco GBIC module and SFP module security messages that identify whether
the module is unique.
Note The switch supports SFP modules and does not support GBIC modules. Although the error message text
refers to GBIC interfaces and modules, the messages from the switch actually refer to the SFP module
interfaces and modules.
Error Message GBIC_SECURITY_UNIQUE-3-DUPLICATE_GBIC: GBIC interface [dec]/[dec] is
a duplicate of GBIC interface [dec]/[dec].
Explanation
The SFP module was identified as a Cisco GBIC or SFP module, but its vendor ID and
serial number match that of another interface on the system. The first [dec]/[dec] is the interface of
the duplicate GBIC or SPF module, and the second [dec]/[dec] is the interface of the existing
module.
Recommended Action Cisco GBIC or SFP modules are assigned unique serial numbers. Verify that
the module was obtained from Cisco or from a supported vendor.
Error Message GBIC_SECURITY_UNIQUE-4-DUPLICATE_SN: GBIC interface [dec]/[dec] has
the same serial number as another GBIC interface.
Explanation
The SFP module was identified as a Cisco SFP module, but its serial number matches
that of another interface on the system. [dec]/[dec] is the interface in which the duplicate module is
installed.
Recommended Action Cisco SFP modules are assigned unique serial numbers. Verify that the module
was obtained from Cisco or from a supported vendor.
HARDWARE Messages
This section contains hardware messages.
Error Message HARDWARE-3-ASICNUM_ERROR: Port-ASIC number [dec] is invalid.
Explanation
The port ASIC number used is invalid. Each port ASIC is identified by an ID. [dec] is
the ASIC number.
Recommended Action Copy the message exactly as it appears on the console or in the system log.
Research and attempt to resolve the error by using the Output Interpreter. Use the Bug Toolkit to
look for similar reported problems. If you still require assistance, open a case with the TAC, or
contact your Cisco technical support representative, and provide the representative with the gathered
information. For more information about these online tools and about contacting Cisco, see the “Error
Message Traceback Reports” section on page 1-2.
