To configure the time interval between sending keepalive messages to the router used by the
Cisco IP phones, use the keepalive command in telephony-service configuration mode. To return the
default, use the no form of this command.

Defaults The default is 30 seconds.

Usage Guidelines The keepalive command configures the time interval between sending keepalive messages to the router
used by the Cisco IP phone. The default is 30 seconds. If the router fails to receive three successive
keepalive messages, it considers the phone to be out of service until the phone re-registers.
Examples The following example shows how to set keepalive timeout at 40 seconds:
Router(config)# telephony-service
Router(config-telephony-service)# keepalive 40
seconds The interval time in seconds. The range is 10 to 65,535 seconds. The default
timeout is set at 30 seconds.
