8-Port Multi-Service Muxponders
The 8-port multi-service muxponder aggregates up to eight ports of client traffic into 2.5-Gbps DWDM
traffic to the trunk. The muxponder transports a mix of different protocols between sites in a metro
DWDM network. The protocols that can be aggregated and transported range from high-speed services
such as Fibre Channel and Gigabit Ethernet to low- speed services such as OC-3, Fast Ethernet, or even
T1 or E1. Figure 1-24 shows a nonsplitter protected 8-port multi-service muxponder.
