Connecting the 8-Port Multi-Service Muxponder
The 8-port multi-service muxponder accepts up to eight Cisco-certified SFPs for client traffic. Each SFP
supports different protocols that can be aggregated and transported ranging from high-speed services
such as Fibre Channel and Gigabit Ethernet to low-speed services such as OC-3, Fast Ethernet, T1, or
E1, depending on how it is configured in the CLI. The 8-port multi-service muxponder is configurable
on a single port basis. The Cisco ONS 15530 supports up to four 8-port multi-service muxponders for a
total of 32 unprotected client signals and up to three 8-port multi-service muxponders for 24 protected
client signals. Figure 3-20 shows the possible connections.
