Release Notes for Cisco ONS 15454 Release 7.0.2
OL-11368-01
New Features and Functionality
• FEC—Allows you to enable or disable FEC on the client cards, if permitted by the client card and
payload.
• SF BER—Allows you to set the signal fail bit error rate for payloads and client cards that allow the
parameter to be provisioned.
• SD BER—Allows you to set the signal degrade bit error rate for payloads and client cards that allow
the parameter to be provisioned.
• Mapping—Sets the mapping for cards that allow this parameter to be provisioned, including the
TXP_MR_10E and MXP_MR_10DME cards. If you set mapping to Synchronous, the client signal
is mapped into the OTU2 signal without justification of the payload because the client signal timing
(the timing source) is the same as the trunk output timing. If you set mapping to asynchronous, the
trunk timing is disconnected from the client timing (because the network element [NE] is the timing
source), so justification is needed to map the client signal (OC192) to OTU2 trunk output.
Automatic Node Provisioning
Release 7.0.x offers a better solution for provisioning DWDM nodes, using Cisco MetroPlanner
configuration files and connection reports.
Cisco MetroPlanner Configuration File Support
With Release 7.0.x you can import a Cisco MetroPlanner configuration file, provided in XML format,
that provisions the shelf layout, sets the OPT-AMP-L mode (if present) and installs the automatic node
setup (ANS) parameters calculated by Cisco MetroPlanner.
In CTC node view (for single-shelf mode) or multishelf view, you can access the configuration file from
the Provisioning > WDM-ANS > Node Setup tabs. Each node setup session also monitors your setup
process by maintaining a log file that you can view to see the results of your setup.
In the node setup page, you can choose from the following options. Each option will result in a different
wizard guiding you through the steps to successful node setup.
• Provision Node Layout—Preprovisions the slots in CTC for the cards required by the network plan.
Choose this option when no DWDM cards are installed. Preprovisioning the slots before the
physical cards are installed ensures that card installers place the cards in the correct slots.
Preprovisioning the slots is also useful if you want to set up the network prior to card installation.
• Provision Card Parameters—This option is available only when an OPT-AMP-L card will be
installed. If you check the box, ANS provisions the OPT-AMP-L role, either as an L-band booster
amplifier (OPT-LINE) or an L-band preamplifier (OPT-PRE).
• Provision ANS Parameters—If checked, installs the ANS parameters. ANS parameters provision the
values required for the node to function within the specified network design. ANS parameters
include span losses, optical power, optics thresholds, amplifier working mode, gain, tilt, and many
others. Refer to the “Node Reference” chapter in the Cisco ONS 15454 DWDM Reference Manual
for a list of ONS 15454 ANS parameters.
• Skip Interactive Mode—If checked, ANS provisions all the chosen setup components automatically
without allowing you to view the results after each one.
