Connecting to the Network and Powering Up the Router
To connect the network interface cables to the router, perform the following steps:
Step 1 Connect an Ethernet cable (not provided) to the 10BaseT port. (See Figure 2-8.)
Use a straight-through Ethernet cable if you are connecting the router to a
10BaseT hub. Use a crossover Ethernet cable if you are connecting the router to a
PC network interface card.
Warning The ports labeled “10BaseT,” “Console,” and “PCMCIA” are safety extra-low
voltage (SELV) circuits. SELV circuits should only be connected to other SELV circuits.
