Using a Site Log
It is good practice to use a site log to record all actions taken relevant to router operation
and maintenance. Keep the site log near the router for ready access by the site manager or
other personnel.
Site log entries might include the following:
Installation progressMake entries in the site log about any difficulties encountered
and the remedial steps taken during the installation process.
Upgrades and removal/replacement proceduresMake entries in the site log about
system maintenance activity and hardware/software upgrades.
Relevant items in the site log might include the following:
Installation, removal, or replacement of an FRU
Router configuration changes
Software upgrades
Hardware upgrades
Corrective or preventive maintenance procedures
Intermittent failures/problems
