Connecting to the Console and Auxiliary Ports
Connecting to the Console and Auxiliary Ports
Use the console terminal for local administrative access to the universal gateway. You can only connect
a terminal to the console port. You can use the auxiliary port to connect a terminal or a modem for remote
access to the universal gateway.
Connecting to the Console Port
To connect a terminal (an ASCII terminal or a PC running terminal emulation software) to the console
port on the Cisco AS5350XM universal gateway, follow this procedure:
Step 1 Connect the terminal to the console port using an RJ-45 rollover cable and an RJ-45-to-DB-25 or
RJ-45-to-DB-9 adapter. The adapters provided are labeled TERMINAL. The adapters and the rollover
cable are included in the accessory kit that comes with the universal gateway. (See Figure 3-12.)
Note For additional information on rollover cable pinouts, see Appendix C, “Cabling Specifications.”
Step 2 Configure your terminal or PC terminal emulation software for 9600 baud, 8 data bits, no parity, and
2 stop bits.
Step 3 Configure the console port. See the Cisco AS5350XM and Cisco AS5400XM Universal Gateways
Software Configuration Guide. This document is available on Cisco.com. (See the “Obtaining
Documentation” section on page xiv.)
