Chapter 5: Installing the Network
PC Card
1. L ocate an available T ype I I or T ype I I I PC M C I A slot on
your notebook computer.
2. W ith the Networ k PC C ar d’s 68-pin connector facing the PC M C I A slot
and the Network PC Card label facing up, as shown in Figure 5-1, slide the
Network PC Card completely into the PCMCIA slot while the computer is
restarting and before the W indows desktop appears.
3. Y ou may see sever al screens appear as the driver installation is finalized.
This is normal. No input should be necessary, and the screens should dis-
appear when the card is ready for use.

is set up and r eady for use. Y ou may continue r eading to lear n about the
car d’s C onfiguration Utility in C hapter 6 for W indows NT or C hapter 7
for other W indows Oper ating Systems.
The Windows X P
compatibility screen
will appear, as
shown in Figure 4-2.
As this card has
been tested to work
with Windows X P,
click the C ontinue
Anyway button to
continue.
On the final instal-
lation screen, click
the Finish button
to complete instal-
lation.
T he H ar dwar e I nstallation is complete.
Windows X P automatically detects and configures the Network PC Card for
your wireless network. T o adjust these settings, refer to your Windows X P doc-
umentation.
