Figure 20 – Transtig 300 Pi Save / Load Operation
• A total number of 5 programs can be saved into
the Transtig 300 Pi memory
SAVE the Current Weld Parameters into
Memory
• Press the SAVE button
• Select a memory location by rotating the control
knob, 1 to 5 is displayed on the meter
• After selecting the desired memory location (ie 1
to 5), press the control knob and the machine
give a small beep to confirm the weld
parameters from the control panel are saved.
LOAD (retrieve) a Program to Control Panel
• Press the LOAD button
• Select a memory location by rotating the control
knob, 1 to 5 is displayed on the meter
• After selecting the desired memory location (ie 1
to 5), press the control knob and the machine
give a small beep to confirm the weld
parameters are loaded onto the control panel
13. Basic TIG Welding Guide
13.1 Electrode Polarity
Connect the TIG torch to the ‘−’ terminal and the work lead to the ‘+’ terminal for direct current
straight polarity. Direct current straight polarity is the most widely used polarity for DC TIG
welding. It allows limited wear of the electrode since 70% of the heat is concentrated at the work
piece.
13.2 Tungsten Electrode Current Ranges
Electrode Diameter (mm) Constant Current (A)
1.0 2 – 30
1.6 8 – 70
2.4 12 – 150
3.2 20 – 250

Welding Application Features Colour
Code
Thoriated 2%
DC welding of mild steel, stainless
steel and copper.
Excellent arc starting, Long life,
High current carrying capacity. Red
Ceriated 2%
DC & AC welding of mild steel,
stainless steel, copper, aluminium,
magnesium and their alloys
Longer life, More stable arc,
Easier starting, Wider current
range, Narrower more
concentrated arc.
