4.4.1 LAMP REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE
NOTE: For this procedure you will need a compatible Christie Xenon CDXL or CXL lamp. Never
install a lamp intended for a different model or projector.
Read and follow all other general lamp precautions, as described in 4.1
Warnings and Guidelines.
TURN OFF MAIN AC
1. Allow the fans to run for at least 10 minutes in order for the lamp to completely cool.
2. At the breaker panel on the projector, set the 3-phase Main AC circuit breaker to OFF.
TURN OFF REMAINING CIRCUIT BREAKERS
After running the fans for at least 10 minutes, turn the remaining INTERNAL and PROJECTOR
circuit breakers, located on the breaker panel of the projector.
DISCONNECT PROJECTOR FROM AC SUPPLY.
OPEN LAMP DOOR
Will wearing protective clothing and shield unlock the lamp door and open it. If desired, release the
latch mechanism to remove the door entirely.
OPEN COOLING COMPARTMENT
Turn knob to open the inner lamp cooling compartment and reveal the cathode end (-) of the lamp.
REMOVE OLD LAMP AND INSPECT REFLECTOR
1. Loosen set screws from negative/cathode (rear, 7/64") and positive/anode (front, 3/16") lamp
connectors. These screws are shown in Figure 4-2 Secure bulb at cathode (-) and anode (+)
connectors. Apply minimal torque and do not stress the quartz tube.
2. Carefully slip the positive anode connector off the front of the lamp.
WARNING
Use the correct wattage lamp, supplied by Christie.
Lamp replacement must be done by qualified service technicians only.
Explosive Hazard - Wear authorized protective clothing whenever the lamp door is
opened. Never apply a twisting or bending force to the quartz lamp body.
WARNING
Never attempt to remove the lamp when it is hot. The lamp is under intense pressure
when hot and may explode, causing personal injury and/or property damage.
WARNING
Shock Hazard - Disconnect from all AC at all wall breakers.
