DC System Troubleshooting
Disconnect battery cables before performing all inspections, checks, troubleshooting,
and repairs to avoid possible personal injury and damage to equipment.
No power to 12 Volt equipment
12 Volt device not working
PROBLEM
Engine running, battery not charging
Battery not holding a charge
Battery disconnect switch to OFF
CAUSE
Engine alternator belt loose
Bad battery
Turn switch ON
SOLUTION
Tighten belt
Replace battery
Battery selector switch turned to OFF
Battery disconnect switch to OFF
Switch selector switch ON for Port and Stbd battery
Recharge battery and replace if necessary
Circuit breaker of device is OFF
Weak or Dead battery
Faulty electrical connection
Switch breaker ON
Change battery selection switch position
Charge battery
Check 12 Volt connections. Tighten or repair as
needed
