This chapter introduces basic messaging features, such as sending and receiv-
ing e-mail and Short Message Service (SMS) messages, viewing and managing
your message folders, customizing message notifications, and using MSN
Messenger to communicate with others.
Sending e- m ail and SMS messages
There are several ways to send e-mail and SMS messages with your Smart-
phone. The most common way to send messages is from Inbox or from a con-
tact card.

Smartphone" on page 21.
Sending messages from Inbox
You can send e-mail messages by synchronizing, or by connecting directly to
an e-mail server through your Internet service provider (I SP) or a corporate
network.

To compose an e- m ail or SMS message from Inbox
1.On the H ome screen, press the Programs soft key, select Inbox/SMS, and
then press the
Action button.
2.Press the New soft key, enter an e-mail address or SM S number in the To
field, or select a name from Contacts by selecting the
To field, and then
press the
Action button.
3.Press D own twice and enter a subject.
4.Press D own, enter your message, and then press the Send soft key.
To insert the @ sign in an e-mail address, in Multipress mode, press the 1 key once.
Then, when you need to insert the period in the e-mail address, press the 1 key again.
To add multiple recipients, separate each name with a semicolon by repeatedly press-
ing the 1 key in Multipress mode until the semicolon appears.
