1.Make sure that your Smartphone is not connected to another device.
2.On the Home screen, press the Programs soft key, select M ore, select Acces-
sories
, and then press the Action button.
3.Select M odem Link, and press the Action button.
4.Under Connection, select U SB or IrCOMM , press the Menu soft key, select
Activate, and then press the Action button.
5.Connect your Smartphone to the device with which you want to use your
Smartphone as a modem.
To set up a serial port modem connection
1.Make sure that your Smartphone is not connected to another device.
2.On the Home screen, press the Programs soft key, select M ore, select Acces-
sories
, and then press the Action button.
3.Select M odem Link, and then press the Action button.
4.Under Connection, select Serial (COM 1), press the M enu soft key, select
Activate, and then press the Action button.
To act ivate the Modem Link
1.On the Home screen, press the Programs soft key, select M ore, select Acces-
sories
, and then press the Action button.
2.Select M odem Link, and then press the Action button.
3.Press the Menu soft key, select Activate, and then press the Action button.
4.Align the Smartphone's infrared (IR) port or connect the cable to the
device.
To deactivate the Modem Link
1.On the Home screen, press the Programs soft key, select M ore, select Acces-
sories
, and then press the Action button.
2.Select M odem Link, and then press the Action button.
3.Press the Menu soft key, select D eactivate, and then press the Action button.
The default baud rate is set for 115,200. Do not change this default unless the port
speed of the Smartphone or computer requires you to do so.
Failing to deactivate the Modem Link when you are finished using it may result in
problems with using ActiveSync in the same session.
