Introduction This document is the User’s Manual for the LCD KVM Drawer from Chatsworth Products, Inc. (CPI). It guides the user through installation, operation and maintenance of the equipment. The LCD KVM Drawer is sold individually and in combination with KVM Switches. The table below lists the CPI Part Numbers for the LCD KVM Drawers and LCD KVM Drawer and Switch combinations covered by this manual. There is a separate manual for the standalone KVM switches.

Additional Product Features – LCD KVM Drawer and Switch with DB15 ports • 16 DB15 KVM switch device ports which provide low-level keyboard, video and mouse connectivity to equipment within a rack. KVM Switches with DB15 ports use a proprietary 6 feet (1.8 meters) or 10 feet (3.0 meters) long breakout cable to connect computers. Cables are purchased separately (P/N 37208-161 or 37208-111). • Buttons on the keyboard tray that allow easy switching between computer ports.
Additional Product Features – LCD KVM Drawer and Switch with Cat5/6 ports • 16 or 32 Cat5/6 RJ45 KVM switch device ports which provide low-level keyboard, video and mouse connectivity to equipment within a rack. KVM Switches with Cat5/6 ports use standard Cat5/6 UTP cabling with RJ45 connectors and dongles to connect computers, which allow computers to be located much farther from the switch, up to 132 feet (40 meters) away. Dongles (P/N 37208-103 or 37208-104) are purchased separately.

Don’t use liquid or spray detergent; use a moist cloth. • Keep equipment away from excessive humidity and heat. Preferably, keep it in an air-conditioned environment with temperatures not exceeding 40º Celsius (104º Fahrenheit).

Installation Unpacking/ Package Contents The LCD KVM Drawer comes with the standard parts shown below. Check and make sure they are included and in good condition. If anything is missing, or damaged, contact the supplier immediately. Items 10-12 are only included with LCD KVM Drawer/Switch (P/Ns 37205-XXX, 37206-XXX). 4-Post Rack/Cabinet Installation – Single Rail Drawers/Switches Step 1: • Insert the left and right mounting brackets into the LCD console drawer. Step 2: • Measure the depth of the front and rear mounting rails in the rack/cabinet. • Extend/align the left and right mounting brackets to match the required depth. Step 3: 12 • Attach the LCD console drawer’s mounting brackets to the rack/cabinets’s mounting rails with the included hardware or mounting hardware included with the rack/cabinet.
2-Post Rack Installation – Single Rail Drawers/Switches Step 1: • Release/remove the front mounting ears from the drawer. • Insert the rear mounting brackets from the front of the drawer as shown. Step 2: • Reattach the front mounting ears to the drawer. • Adjust/align each rear mounting bracket to a suitable length. Step 3: 13 • Attach the LCD console drawer’s front mounting ears to the front of the rack using the mounting hardware included with the rack.
4-Post Rack/Cabinet Installation – Dual Rail Drawers/Switches • Attach the left and right mounting bracket to rack 19” mounting rails. • Adjust the rear mounting bracket to fit your rack. • Use six M6 cage nuts, screws and cup washers to attach the brackets to the rack. Caution: Leave the screws slightly loose until you complete the installation in step 4 • Pick up the LCD KVM Drawer. • Insert the LCD KVM Drawer into the mounting brackets.
• Attach the front left and right mounting ears of the LCD KVM Drawer to vertical mounting rails. • Use the two remaining M6 screws and cup washers to secure the ears. • Tighten all eight M6 screws to complete the installation.
LCD KVM Drawer – Server Connections Connect the LCD KVM Drawer to an individual server with USB or PS/2 keyboard and mouse connections using the included Combo KVM Cable. Connection to Server with USB keyboard and mouse: Connection to Server with PS/2 keyboard and mouse: Notes: • The connections shown above are only for the LCD KVM Drawer without built-in KVM Switch. • For the LCD KVM Drawer with built-in KVM Switch, please refer to pages 16 and 17.
LCD KVM Drawer – KVM Switch Connections Connect the LCD KVM Drawer to a standalone KVM Switch with a USB or PS/2 keyboard and mouse connections using the included Combo KVM Cable. Connection to KVM Switch with USB keyboard and mouse: Connection to KVM Switch with PS/2 keyboard and mouse: Notes: • The connections shown above are only for the LCD KVM Drawer without built-in KVM Switch. • For the LCD KVM Drawer with built-in KVM Switch, please refer to pages 16 and 17.
LCD KVM Drawer and Switch with DB15 ports – Server Connections For LCD KVM Drawers that include KVM Switches with DB15 ports (P/Ns 37203-161, 37203162, 37204-161, 37204-162, 37209-261, 37209-262), each server connects to the KVM Switch with a Combo KVM Cable (P/N 37208-161 or 37208-111), ordered separately. Order one Combo KVM Cable per server. Combo KVM Cables are available in two lengths and are sold individually, in packages of eight and in packages of 16. Note: Some switches do not have IP connections.
LCD KVM Drawer and Switch with Cat5/6 ports – Server Connections For LCD KVM Drawers that include KVM Switches with Cat5/6 ports (P/Ns 37205-421, 37205-422, 37206-421, 37206-422, 37205-361, 37205-362, 37206-361 and 37206-362), each server connects with a Cat5/6 UTP cable with RJ45 connectors and a dongle. Order one IP KVM Cable Dongle (P/N 37208-103 or 37208-104) per server to match server keyboard and mouse connections.
Remote Console Connection for IP KVM Switch with Cat5/6 ports Each LCD KVM Drawer and IP Switch with Cat5/6 ports also has one remote console connection and includes a remote console receiver to connect a separate set of peripherals or computer for switch access. Connect the remote console with a Cat5/6 UTP cable.
Cascade Connection – Expansion for KVM Drawer and Switch with DB15 ports Cascade up to seven additional standalone KVM Switches with DB15 ports (P/N 37202-160) to connect up to 128 servers through a single set of peripherals and IP address. The Cascade Cable for KVM Switches with DB15 ports (P/N 37208-162) attaches between the cascade port on the LCD KVM Drawer and Switch and the local console on the next switch. Equipment is accessed through consoles on the first switch.
Cascade Connection – Expansion LCD KVM Drawer and Switch with Cat5/6 ports Cascade up to seven additional Analog KVM Switches with Cat 5/6 ports to connect up to 128 or 256 servers through the integrated LCD KVM Drawer, a single remote terminal or IP address. The Cascade Cable for KVM Switches with Cat5/6 ports (P/N 37208-165) attaches between the cascade ports on the switches. Equipment is accessed through the consoles on the first switch.
Use – LCD KVM Drawer Opening/Closing The Single Rail LCD KVM Drawer Step 1: To open the drawer, grasp the handle and gently slide out the drawer. Step 2: When the drawer is fully extended, Flip up the LCD to a suitable viewing angle 3: The LCD KVM Drawer is ready to use. Reverse steps to close the drawer.
Opening The Dual Rail LCD KVM Drawer Step 1: To open the drawer, press the carry handle button and gently pull the carry handle Step 2: When the drawer is fully extended, release the LCD panel by flipping the latch at the back of the tray. Step 3: Flip up the LCD panel to a suitable viewing angle.
Step 4: Flip the front panel down and gently push the LCD display back to the rack. Step 5: The LCD KVM Drawer is ready to use. Closing The Dual Rail LCD KVM Drawer Step 1: To close the LCD KVM Drawer, pull the LCD panel forward and lay it down securing the panel with the latch at the back of the tray.
Step 2: When the LCD panel is latched, flip up the front panel on the tray. Step 3: Press the carry handle button and gently push the tray into the rack. Step 4: When the LCD KVM Drawer is closed, release the carry handle.
Adjusting the LCD Panel Display Use the buttons on the LCD panel to turn the LCD display on and off and to access the on-screen display (OSD) menu to make display adjustments. LCD Adjustment Buttons Function Turn the monitor on or off Display the OSD menu Act as an Enter key to select screen setting options Scrolls through menu options and adjusts the displayed control Exit the OSD screen Go back to the previous on-screen sub-menu or main menu Note: Power button is lighted when monitor is on.
The LCD On-Screen Display (OSD) Menu From the OSD menu (below), select the icons on the left side of the menu to adjust image, geometry, video and audio. See the table below for a description of each icon/sub menu.
USE – KVM Switch Password Configuration for the Local/Remote Console The password is disabled by default. • Enable password 1. Press the KVM hotkey Scroll Lock + Scroll Lock + U (you must press hotkey within 2 seconds, you will hear a beep when successful) 2. Logout the KVM by pressing the hotkey Scroll Lock + Scroll Lock + P (the unit will automatically log out after 10 minutes of inactivity) 3.
The On-Screen Display (OSD) Menu Access the OSD menu from the local console using the hot keys or hold the right mouse button and hit the escape button.
The F1 Main Menu From the OSD menu, touch the F1 function key to access the main menu. The F1 Main Menu lets you set up the switch, assign port/computer names and create user accounts.

Set up – IP Console The IP Console on KVM Switches are pre-configured with an IP address and password to allow quick setup and configuration. DHCP is not enabled. You can access the switch using a web browser. IP address 1: IP address 2: Subnet mask: Gateway: Login: Password: 192.168.1.22 (Single IP Console) 192.168.1.23 (Second IP Console) 255.255.255.
6. Select the MAC address of the KVM Switch that you want to setup and click Query Device. (The MAC address of the KVM Switch is printed on the product label.) 7. To change the default password, under Authentication, a. Enter the Super user login. The default is super (all lower case) b. Enter the Super user password. The default is pass (all lower case) c. Enter the new super user password (this will change the password.) d. Re-enter the new password (do not forget the new password) e.
Troubleshooting guide – LCD KVM Drawer 1. Is an interference signal on the LCD normal when shutting down the computer? • In rare cases, interference may appear on the monitor. This may be caused by signal rate of VGA card and is considered normal. The image quality can be improved by adjusting the phase or pixel rate automatically or manually. 2. The membrane power light is not on. • • Press the power On / Off button on the LCD panel (LCD Adjustment Buttons) to check if the monitor is in the ON mode.
Troubleshooting guide – KVM Switch 1. There is no LED display on KVM membrane switch. • • • Make sure the power adapter is plugged into the KVM Switch If the LED is still off, perform soft reset to KVM switch. If that does not work, power cycle the KVM switch. 2. I can power on the KVM, but I am not getting any picture.

How do the KVM switches allow the user to switch ports? A.
Q. Why am I getting ghosting images or shadowing? A. The signal cable may be loose or the video card configuration may not match the switch. Check that all video cables are inserted properly. Check whether the KVM supports the resolution and refresh-rate on your servers. Check whether the graphics card you are using supports the resolution and refresh rate on your server or not. Connect the monitor directly into the servers you are having trouble with to see if problem still appears. Q.

How To Clean Your LCD Monitor Caution: • To avoid the risk of electric shock, make sure your hands are dry before unplugging your monitor from or plugging your monitor into an electrical outlet. • When you clean your monitor, do not press down on the LCD screen. Pressing down on the screen can scratch or damage your display. Pressure damage is not covered under warranty. • Use only cleansers made specifically for cleaning monitors and monitor screens.
