A Sample KN-8828P-2K Program and It’s Roast
Beans Used - - - - - Brazil Sierra Negra
Amount of Beans - - - - - - 250 grams
For a better understanding on how a Program affects the roasting process we present this graph of an
actual sample roast and the program that created it.
The
red line represents the temperature readout as shown on the LCD display during the roast.
The blue line indicates the programmed time.
The green line is the temperature near the top of the roasting chamber (this is called the environmen-
tal temperature, or the “ET”).
The lavender area indicates the program I created for this roast.
The black line is the fan speed.
The total program time was seventeen minutes with one “Plus” added for a total roast time of about
17:30. This roast was automatically ejected at the end of that time, about 90 seconds from the time the first
click of second crack was heard.
One interesting point to note is the way segment 6 and 7 are programmed to the same maximum
temperature. This was done to add more user-control over the end of the roast. Because segment 7 can be
programmed to 396, This gives me the ability to increase or decrease the temperature during this critical
point in the roast.
Finally, notice the “wave” in the ET near the end. This is where the heating element was being
turned off then on by the control circuits when the programmed temperature was reached during those
segments.
