Preparing your garage door Before you begin: To prevent possible SERIOUS INJURY or DEATH: • ALWAYS call a trained door systems technician if garage door binds, sticks, or is out of balance. An unbalanced garage door may NOT reverse when required. • NEVER try to loosen, move or adjust garage door, door springs, cables, pulleys, brackets or their hardware, ALL of which are under EXTREME tension.
Planning Identify the type and height of your garage door. Survey your garage area to see if any of the conditions below apply to your installation. Additional materials may be required. You may find it helpful to refer back to this page and the accompanying illustrations as you proceed with the installation of your opener. • Do you have an access door in addition to the garage door? If not, Model 7702C Emergency Key Release is required. See Accessories page.
Planning (Continued) ONE-PIECE DOOR INSTALLATIONS Without a properly working safety reversal system, persons (particularly small children) could be SERIOUSLY INJURED or KILLED by a closing garage door. • The gap between the bottom of the garage door and the floor MUST NOT exceed 1/4" (6 mm). Otherwise, the safety reversal system may NOT work properly. • The floor or the garage door MUST be repaired to eliminate the gap. • Generally, a one-piece door does not require reinforcement.
Carton Inventory Hardware for assembly and installation is shown on the next page. Save the carton and packing material until installation and adjustment is complete. Your garage door opener is packaged in one carton which contains the motor unit and all parts illustrated below. Accessories will depend on the model purchased. If anything is missing, carefully check the packing material.
Hardware Inventory Separate all hardware and group as shown below for the assembly and installation procedures.
ASSEMBLY STEP 1 Assemble the Rail & Install the Trolley To prevent INJURY from pinching, keep hands and fingers away from the joints while assembling the rail. To avoid installation difficulties, do not run the garage door opener until instructed to do so. The front rail has a cut out “window” at the door end. The front and back rail both have rail tabs. These rail tabs MUST be on top of the rail when assembled. 4.
ASSEMBLY STEP 2 Fasten the Rail to the Motor Unit To avoid SERIOUS damage to garage door opener, use ONLY those bolts/fasteners mounted in the top of the opener. 1. Insert a 1/4”-20x1-3/4 bolt into the cover protection bolt hole on the back end of the rail as shown. Tighten securely with a 1/4”-20 lock nut. Do NOT overtighten. 2. Remove the two bolts from the top of the motor unit. Hex Screws 8-32x7/16" 3. Use the carton to support the front end of the rail. 4.
ASSEMBLY STEP 4 Install the Chain/Cable To avoid possible SERIOUS INJURY to fingers from moving garage door opener: • ALWAYS keep hand clear of sprocket while operating opener. • Securely attach chain spreader BEFORE operating. 1. Pull the cable around the idler pulley and toward the trolley. 2. Connect the cable to the retaining slot on the trolley, as shown (Figure 1): • From below, push pins of master link bar up through cable link and trolley slot.

Spin the inner nut and lock washer down the trolley threaded shaft, away from the trolley. Inner Nut 2. To tighten the chain, turn outer nut in the direction shown (Figure 1). To Tighten Inner Nut 3. When the chain is approximately 1/4" (6 mm) above the base of the rail at its midpoint, re-tighten the inner nut to secure the adjustment.
INSTALLATION STEP 1 Unfinished Ceiling OPTIONAL CEILING MOUNT FOR HEADER BRACKET Determine the Header Bracket Location Header Wall 2x4 Vertical Centerline of Garage Door To prevent possible SERIOUS INJURY or DEATH: • Header bracket MUST be RIGIDLY fastened to structural support on header wall or ceiling, otherwise garage door might NOT reverse when required. DO NOT install header bracket over drywall. • Concrete anchors MUST be used if mounting header bracket or 2x4 into masonry.
Wall Mount INSTALLATION STEP 2 Install the Header Bracket You can attach the header bracket either to the wall above the garage door, or to the ceiling. Follow the instructions which will work best for your particular requirements. Do not install the header bracket over drywall. If installing into masonry, use concrete anchors (not provided). Header Wall Header Bracket Idler Pulley INSTALLATION STEP 3 Attach the Rail to the Header Bracket Header Bracket 1. Position the opener on the garage floor below the header bracket. Use packing material as a protective base. NOTE: If the door spring is in the way you’ll need help. Have someone hold the opener securely on a temporary support to allow the rail to clear the spring. 2. Position the rail bracket against the header bracket. 3.
INSTALLATION STEP 5 Hang the Opener To avoid possible SERIOUS INJURY from a falling garage door opener, fasten it SECURELY to structural supports of the garage. Concrete anchors MUST be used if installing any brackets into masonry. Three representative installations are shown. Yours may be different. Hanging brackets should be angled (Figure 1) to provide rigid support. On finished ceilings (Figure 2 and Figure 3), attach a sturdy metal bracket to structural supports before installing the opener.
INSTALLATION STEP 6 Install the Door Control To prevent possible SERIOUS INJURY or DEATH from electrocution: • Be sure power is NOT connected BEFORE installing door control. • Connect ONLY to 24 VOLT low voltage wires. To prevent possible SERIOUS INJURY or DEATH from a closing garage door: • Install door control within sight of garage door, out of reach of children at a minimum height of 5 feet (1.5 m), and away from ALL moving parts of door.
INSTALLATION STEP 7 Install the Light To prevent possible OVERHEATING of the endpanel or light socket: • DO NOT use short neck or specialty light bulbs. • DO NOT use halogen bulbs. Use ONLY incandescent. To prevent damage to the opener: • DO NOT use bulbs larger than 100W. • ONLY use A19 size bulbs. 1. Press the release tabs on both sides of lens. Gently rotate lens back and downward until the lens hinge is in the fully open position. Do not remove the lens. 2.
INSTALLATION STEP 9 Electrical Requirements To prevent possible SERIOUS INJURY or DEATH from electrocution or fire: • Be sure power is NOT connected to the opener, and disconnect power to circuit BEFORE removing cover to establish permanent wiring connection. • Garage door installation and wiring MUST be in compliance with ALL local electrical and building codes. • NEVER use an extension cord, 2-wire adapter, or change plug in ANY way to make it fit outlet. Be sure the opener is grounded.
INSTALLATION STEP 10 Install The Protector System® Be sure power is NOT connected to the garage door opener BEFORE installing the safety reversing sensor. To prevent SERIOUS INJURY or DEATH from a closing garage door: • Correctly connect and align the safety reversing sensor. This required safety device MUST NOT be disabled. • Install the safety reversing sensor so beam is NO HIGHER than 6" (15 cm) above garage floor.
Figure 1 INSTALLING THE BRACKETS Be sure power to the opener is disconnected. Install and align the brackets so the sensors will face each other across the garage door, with the beam no higher than 6" (15 cm) above the floor. They may be installed in one of three ways, as follows. DOOR TRACK MOUNT (RIGHT SIDE) Door Track Lip Indicator Light Garage door track installation (preferred): 1. Slip the curved arms over the rounded edge of each door track, with the curved arms facing the door.
Figure 5 MOUNTING AND WIRING THE SAFETY REVERSING SENSORS Wing Nut 1/4"-20 Mounting: 1. Slide a 1/4"-20x1/2" carriage bolt head into the slot on each sensor. Use wing nuts to fasten sensors to brackets, with lenses pointing toward each other across the door. Be sure the lens is not obstructed by a bracket extension (Figure 5). Carriage Bolt 1/4"-20x1/2" 2. Finger tighten the wing nuts. Lens Option A - Installation Without Pre-Wiring: 1. Run the bell wire from both sensors to the garage door opener.
Connect to garage door opener: 1. Strip 7/16" (11 mm) of insulation from each set of wires. Separate white and white/black wires sufficiently to connect to the opener quick-connect terminals. Twist like colored wires together. Insert wires into quick-connect holes: white to white and white/black to grey (Figure 10). INSTALLATION STEP 11 Fasten the Door Bracket Fiberglass, aluminum or lightweight steel garage doors WILL REQUIRE reinforcement BEFORE installation of door bracket. Contact your door manufacturer for reinforcement kit. Follow instructions which apply to your door type as illustrated below or on the following page. A horizontal reinforcement brace should be long enough to be secured to two or three vertical supports. A vertical reinforcement brace should cover the height of the top panel.
ONE-PIECE DOORS Please read and comply with the warnings and reinforcement instructions on the previous page. They apply to one-piece doors also. HARDWARE SHOWN ACTUAL SIZE • Center the door bracket on the top of the door, in line with the header bracket as shown. Mark either the left and right, or the top and bottom holes. • Metal Doors: Drill 3/16" pilot holes and fasten the bracket with the 1/4"-14x5/8" self-threading screws provided.

Outer Trolley SECTIONAL DOORS ONLY Ring Fastener • Make sure garage door is fully closed. Pull the emergency release handle to disconnect the outer trolley from the inner trolley. Slide the outer trolley back (away from the pulley) about 8" (20 cm) as shown in Figures 1, 2 and 3.

Assemble the door arm, Figure 5: IMPORTANT: The groove on the straight door arm MUST face away from the curved door arm. • Fasten the straight and curved door arm sections together to the longest possible length (with a 2 or 3 hole overlap). • With the door closed, connect the straight door arm section to the door bracket with the 5/16"x1-1/4" clevis pin. • Secure with a ring fastener.
ADJUSTMENT STEP 1 Adjust the UP and DOWN Travel Limits Without a properly installed safety reversal system, persons (particularly small children) could be SERIOUSLY INJURED or KILLED by a closing garage door. • Incorrect adjustment of garage door travel limits will interfere with proper operation of safety reversal system. • If one control (force or travel limits) is adjusted, the other control may also need adjustment. • After ANY adjustments are made, the safety reversal system MUST be tested.
ADJUSTMENT STEP 2 Adjust the Force Without a properly installed safety reversal system, persons (particularly small children) could be SERIOUSLY INJURED or KILLED by a closing garage door. • Too much force on garage door will interfere with proper operation of safety reversal system. • NEVER increase force beyond minimum amount required to close garage door. • NEVER use force adjustments to compensate for a binding or sticking garage door.
ADJUSTMENT STEP 3 Test the Safety Reversal System Without a properly installed safety reversal system, persons (particularly small children) could be SERIOUSLY INJURED or KILLED by a closing garage door. • Safety reversal system MUST be tested every month. • If one control (force or travel limits) is adjusted, the other control may also need adjustment. • After ANY adjustments are made, the safety reversal system MUST be tested. Door MUST reverse on contact with 1-1/2" high (3.
OPERATION IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS WARNING To reduce the risk of SEVERE INJURY or DEATH: 9. If one control (force or travel limits) is adjusted, the other control may also need adjustment. 10. After ANY adjustments are made, the safety reversal system MUST be tested. 11. Safety reversal system MUST be tested every month. Using the Wall-Mounted Door Control Press the lighted push button to open or close the door. Press again to reverse the door during the closing cycle or to stop the door while it's opening. THE REMOTE CONTROL BATTERY CARE OF YOUR OPENER LIMIT AND FORCE ADJUSTMENTS: Weather conditions may cause some minor changes in door operation requiring some re-adjustments, particularly during the first year of operation. FORCE CONTROLS To prevent possible SERIOUS INJURY or DEATH: • NEVER allow small children near batteries. • If battery is swallowed, immediately notify doctor. To reduce risk of fire, explosion or chemical burn: • Replace ONLY with 3V2032 coin batteries.
HAVING A PROBLEM? Bell Wire 1. My door will not close and the light bulbs blink on my motor unit: The safety reversing sensor must be connected and aligned correctly before the garage door opener will move in the down direction. • Verify the safety sensors are properly installed, aligned and free of any obstructions. Refer to Installation Step 10: Install The Protector System®. • Check diagnostic LED for flashes on the motor unit then refer to the Diagnostic Chart on the following page.
Diagnostics Located On Motor Unit Bell Wire Installed Safety Reversing Sensor LED or Diagnostic LED “Learn” Safety Reversing Sensor Button Your garage door opener is programmed with self-diagnostic capabilities. The “Learn” button/diagnostic LED will flash a number of times then pause signifying it has found a potential issue. Consult Diagnostic Chart below. PROGRAMMING NOTICE: If this Security✚® garage door opener is operated with a non-rolling code transmitter, the technical measure in the receiver of the garage door opener, which provides security against code-theft devices, will be circumvented. To Add, Reprogram or Change a Keyless Entry PIN NOTE: Your new Keyless Entry must be programmed to operate your garage door opener. USING THE “LEARN” BUTTON USING THE MULTI-FUNCTION DOOR CONTROL 1. Press and release the “learn” button on motor unit. The learn indicator light will glow steadily for 30 seconds. NOTE: This method requires two people if the Keyless Entry is already mounted outside the garage. 1. Enter a four digit personal identification number (PIN) of your choice on the keypad.

MONTAGE - 1RE OPÉRATION ATTENTION Montage du rail et pose du chariot Afin de prévenir une BLESSURE occasionnée par un pincement, tenir les mains et les doigts loin des joints lors de l’assemblage du rail. Pour éviter les difficultés pendant la pose, ne faire fonctionner l'ouvre-porte de garage que lorsque cela est expressément indiqué. 4. Comme boutoir temporaire, insérez un tournevis dans l’orifice situé à 10 pouces (25 cm) du devant du rail, comme illustré. 5.
MONTAGE - 2e OPÉRATION ATTENTION Fixation du rail au moteur 1. Insérer un boulon de 1/4 po-20 x 1-3/4 dans le trou du boulon de protection du couvercle à l’extrémité arrière du rail, comme illustré. Serrer fermement à l’aide d’un contre-écrou de 1/4 po-20. Ne PAS trop serrer. 2. Retirer les deux boulons depuis le dessus de l’ouvre-porte. 3. Utilisez le carton pour supporter le frontal du rail. 4.
MONTAGE - 4E OPÉRATION AVERTISSEMENT Pose de la chaîne et du câble Pour éviter d’éventuelles BLESSURES GRAVES aux doigts par suite du mouvement de l’ouvre-porte : • TOUJOURS garder la main à l’écart du pignon lorsque l’ouvre-porte fonctionne. • Fixer solidement le carter du pignon AVANT de faire fonctionner l’ouvre-porte. 1. Pour tendre la chaîne, tourner l’écrou extérieur dans le sens illustré (Figure 1). 3. Lorsque la chaîne est à environ 1/4 po (6 mm) au-dessus du patin du rail en son point milieu, resserrer l’écrou intérieur pour garder le réglage. Le pignon peut faire du bruit si la chaîne est trop détendue.

Suivre les instructions qui répondent le mieux aux besoins particuliers. Ne pas poser le support de linteau sur des plaques de placoplâtre. Demander à une personne de bien retenir l’ouvre-porte sur un support temporaire de façon que le rail ne touche pas le ressort. 2.

On DOIT utiliser des ancrages de béton si les supports sont posés dans la maçonnerie. Les illustrations représentent trois poses types. La pose peut toutefois être différente. Les supports de suspension doivent être inclinés, (Figure 1) pour assurer un support rigide.

POSE - 9e OPÉRATION AVERTISSEMENT Exigences électriques Pour prévenir d’éventuelles BLESSURES GRAVES ou LA MORT par suite d’électrocution ou d’un incendie : • S’assurer que l’ouvre-porte est hors tension et couper le courant au circuit AVANT de retirer le couvercle pour procéder à un branchement permanent. • La pose et le câblage de la porte de garage DOIVENT être conformes à TOUS les codes électriques et de construction locaux.
AVERTISSEMENT POSE - 10e OPÉRATION Pose du Système Protector® S’assurer que l’ouvre-porte de garage est hors tension AVANT de poser le détecteur inverseur de sécurité. Pour prévenir des BLESSURES GRAVES ou LA MORT par suite d’une porte de garage qui se ferme : • Raccorder et aligner correctement le détecteur inverseur de sécurité. Ce dispositif de sécurité requis NE DOIT PAS être désactivé.

Poser et aligner les supports de manière à ce que les détecteurs se fassent face l’un l’autre de part et d’autre de la porte du garage, le faisceau n’étant pas à une hauteur de plus de 6 po (15 cm) au-dessus du sol. Ils peuvent être posés de trois façons, suivant vos exigences, comme suit : Pose aux guides de la porte de garage (mode préférable) : 1.

Faire glisser un boulon à tête bombée et collet carré de 1/4 po-20 x 1/2 po dans la fente de chaque détecteur. Utiliser des écrous à oreilles pour fixer les détecteurs aux supports, avec les diffuseurs dirigés l’un vers l’autre de part et d’autre de la porte. S’assurer que le diffuseur n’est pas obstrué par une rallonge de support (Figure 5). 2. Serrer les écrous à oreilles à la main.
Connexion à l’ouvre-porte de garage : 1. Enlever 7/16 po (11 mm) d’isolation de chaque série de fils. Séparer les fils blanc et blanc/noir suffisamment pour leur raccordement aux vis des bornes á raccordement rapide de l’ouvre-porte. Torsader les fils de même couleur. Insérer les fils dans les trous à raccordement rapide : blanc à blanc et noir/blanc à gris (Figure 10). Figure 10 Raccorder les fils sur bornes à raccordement rapide. POSE - 11e OPÉRATION ATTENTION Fixation du Support de Porte Les portes de garage en fibre de verre, en aluminium ou en acier léger ont BESOIN d’être renforcées AVANT la fixation du support de porte. Il est conseillé de s’adresser au fabricant de la porte pour obtenir un nécessaire de renforts. Suivre les instructions qui correspondent au type de porte, comme il est illustré ci-dessous ou à la page suivante. Un renfort horizontal doit être suffisamment long pour être fixé à deux ou trois supports verticaux.
PORTES RIGIDES Prière de lire et de suivre les avertissements et les instructions de renforcements à la page précédente. Ils s’appliquent également aux portes rigides. • • • GRANDEUR RÉELLE DES FIXATIONS Centrer le support de porte sur le dessus de la porte, en l’alignant avec le support de linteau, comme il est illustré. Repérer soit les trous de gauche et de droite, soit les trous du haut et du bas.

Tirer la poignée de déclenchement d’urgence pour détacher le chariot extérieur du chariot intérieur.

AVERTISSEMENT RÉGLAGES - 2e OPÉRATION Réglage de la force Sans un système d’inversion de sécurité bien installé, des personnes (plus particulièrement les petits enfants) pourraient être GRIÈVEMENT BLESSÉES ou TUÉES par une porte de garage qui se referme. • Une trop grande force sur la porte de garage gênera un fonctionnement approprié du système d’inversion de sécurité. • Ne JAMAIS augmenter la force au-delà du niveau nécessaire à la fermeture de la porte.
RÉGLAGES - 3e OPÉRATION AVERTISSEMENT Essai du système d’inversion de sécurité Sans un système d’inversion de sécurité bien installé, des personnes (plus particulièrement les petits enfants) pourraient être GRIÈVEMENT BLESSÉES ou TUÉES par une porte de garage qui se referme. • On DOIT procéder à une vérification mensuelle du système d’inversion de sécurité. • Après avoir réglé une commande (force ou course), il peut être nécessaire de régler l’autre commande.
FONCTIONNEMENT IMPORTANTES CONSIGNES DE SÉCURITÉ AVERTISSEMENT Pour réduire le risque de BLESSURES GRAVES ou DE MORT : 9. Utilisation de votre ouvre-porte de garage (Suite) Ouverture manuelle de la porte AVERTISSEMENT Éclairage Security✚® : Les lumières s’allumeront également lorsqu’une personne franchira la porte de garage ouverte. Sur une commande de porte Multifonction, cette fonction d’éclairage peut être désactivée de la façon suivante : les lumières fermées, enfoncer et tenir le bouton d’éclairage pendant 10 secondes jusqu’à ce que les lumières s’éteignent, puis s’allument de nouveau.
LA PILE DE LA TÉLÉCOMMANDE ENTRETIEN DE L’OUVREPORTE DE GARAGE AVERTISSEMENT RÉGLAGES DE COURSE ET DE FORCE: Pour prévenir d’éventuelles BLESSURES GRAVES ou LA MORT : • Ne JAMAIS laisser de petits enfants à proximité des piles. • Aviser immédiatement un médecin en cas d’ingestion d’une pile. Pour réduire le risque d’incendie, d’explosion ou de brûlure chimique : • Remplacer les piles UNIQUEMENT par des piles capsules 3V2032.
DÉFAUTS DE FONCTIONNEMENT Fil de sonnerie 1. Ma porte ne se ferme pas et les ampoules de l’éclairage du moteur clignotent : Le détecteur inverseur de sécurité doit être raccordé et aligné correctement avant que l’ouvre-porte de garage n’entame la procédure de fermeture. • Vérifier que les détecteurs inverseurs de sécurité sont bien installés et dépourvus d’obstruction. Se reporter à la 10e étape de pose : Pose du Système Protector®.
Diagnostic situé sur le moteur Fil de sonnerie Montage du détecteur inverseur de sécurité Voyant LED ou LED diagnostic Détecteur inverseur de sécurité Des fonctions d’autodiagnostic ont été programmées dans votre ouvre-porte de garage. Le bouton « learn » ou le voyant LED de diagnostic émettra un certain nombre d’éclairs avant de faire une pause pour indiquer la découverte d’un problème potentiel. PROGRAMMATION REMARQUE : Si cet ouvre-porte de garage Security✚® est utilisé avec une télécommande émettrice à code fixe, le dispositif technique que contient le récepteur de l’ouvre-porte et qui procure une protection contre les vols de code, se trouvera contourné. Le détenteur des droits d’auteur de cet ouvre-porte de garage n’autorise pas l’acheteur ni le fournisseur de la télécommande émettrice à code fixe à contourner ce dispositif technique.
Pour ajouter, reprogrammer ou modifier un NIP d’entrée sans clé REMARQUE : Votre nouvelle entrée sans clé doit être programmée de manière à faire fonctionner votre ouvre-porte de garage. UTILISATION DU BOUTON « LEARN » UTILISATION DE LA COMMANDE DE PORTE MULTIFONCTION 1. Enfoncer et tenir le bouton « learn » sur le moteur. Le témoin lumineux learn s’allumera en continu pendant 30 secondes.
