DESCRIPTION AND TERMINOLOGY
Designed for hunting purposes, the BRNO EXPRESS over/under rifle is a long rifle with
two barrels, one above the other, that corresponds to the CIP regulations. The lower and the
upper barrels both have the same calibre. The design of the rifled barrels guarantees their
unchanged position of the point of impact due to their heating. This rifle consists of the
following main assemblies:
- Receiver
- Fore-end
- Barrel Assembly
Receiver
The receiver consists of the stock and the receiver which are connected by a screw. The
breech, firing and trigger mechanisms are installed inside the receiver. The breech mechanism
consists of the barrel hinge pins and the wedge operated by the top lever. The barrel assembly
is customized to the front plate and the side protrusions of the receiver. The actual locking is
provided by the wedge. The firing and trigger mechanisms consist of the cocking levers,
hammers, trigger levers, the trigger and safeties.
Fore-end
The fore-end consists of the bar and the fore-end itself. The fore-end is equipped with a
loop for a sling.
Barrel Assembly
The barrel assembly consists of two rifled barrels, which are screwed together to form a
group. The fore-end hook, the central bar, the rear sight base and the front sight base are
soldered to the upper barrel.
The lower rifled barrel is not fixed at the muzzle end to allow for thermal expansion. The
adjusting screws located on the central bar serve for adjusting the grouping of both barrels.
The parts of this firearm's action are made of structural steel. The surface of the steel
parts is protected by alkaline oxidation, while the trigger has a nickel treatment. The stock and
fore-end are made of walnut wood. The gripping surfaces are provided with checkering and
the wooden surface is impregnated with oil.
