Chapter 2
Installation and Setup
2.1 Introduction
This section describes the installation, alignment, and setup procedures for a
FA4800 system.
After installing the hardware and establishing a link, refer to Chapter 3 for
operation instructions and Chapter 4 for configuration instructions.
In case a problem is encountered, refer to Chapter 5 for test and diagnostic
instructions.

Internal settings, adjustment, maintenance, and repairs may be performed
only by a skilled technician who is aware of the hazards involved.
Always observe standard safety precautions during installation, operation, and
maintenance of this product.
2.2 Site Requirements and Prerequisites
For the IDU units, allow at least 90 cm (36 in) of frontal clearance for operating
and maintenance accessibility. Allow at least 10 cm (4 in) clearance at the rear of
the unit for signal lines and interface cables.
The ambient operating temperature should be –45 to 60°C/–49 to 140°F (ODU),
or –5 to 45°C/23 to 113°F (IDU) at a relative humidity of up to 90%,
non-condensing.
