TALKSWITCH AND TELEPHONE COMPANY SERVICES 269
HUNT/ROLLOVER
The Hunt/Rollover service hunts across a set of telephone lines to find a free line for an
incoming call. Two or more lines are required. This allows an organization with multiple
telephone lines to publish one phone number. Hunt/Rollover is also known as Hunt Group, Busy
Rollover, Hunting Facility, or Call Forward On Busy.
The TalkSwitch unit uses hunt groups for outgoing calls. If you know the order that the
telephone company hunts across telephone lines for incoming calls, reverse the order in the
hunt groups to prevent congestion.
OTHER SERVICES
Services using call back
Services which result in a call back to the TalkSwitch unit are not recommended, unless careful
consideration is given to how the incoming call will be handled.
Services using prompted call back
If you call a number and it’s busy, some telephone companies offer a prompted call back service
that will notify you when the number is free. The use of this service is not recommended with
TalkSwitch remote extensions.
If the service cannot be deactivated, set the When a call is answered list to play accept/reject
prompt in the Answered tab of the remote extension’s call cascade. This setting allows the call to
be handled correctly if the telephone company answers the call to the remote extension with a
prompted call back message.
Services and systems using Flash or Recall
Some services and systems require a Flash or Recall signal for activation. For example, a Key
telephone system, PBX or telephone company service may require a Flash or Recall signal.
To generate a Flash or Recall signal for the service or system, press the Flash or Recall or Link
button twice. Pressing the Flash or Recall button once will put the caller on hold, but the Flash
or Recall signal will not be sent to the telephone line. This prevents the TalkSwitch system from
hanging up on the caller. Pressing the Flash or Recall button a second time will send a Flash or
Recall signal to the telephone line.
If your telephone does not have a Flash or Recall or Link button, you can generate a Flash or
Recall signal by quickly pressing and releasing the telephone’s hook switch.
If you need to send a Flash or Recall signal to the telephone line, press and release the hook
switch once, count to two, and then press and release the hook switch a second time. If you
initiate the second Flash or Recall signal too quickly, you will disconnect your caller.
Services using Ringback Tones
The Ringback Tones service allows the caller to hear a tune or announcement instead of the
traditional ring back tone. This service is also known as Colour-Me Tones. The use of this service
is not recommended with TalkSwitch remote extensions.
If the service cannot be deactivated, set the When a call is answered list to play accept/reject
prompt in the Answered tab of the remote extension’s call cascade. This setting allows the call to
be handled correctly if the telephone company plays a tune or announcement instead of a
traditional ring back tone.
