TALKSWITCH CONFIGURATION 163
Carrier code prefixes
The Carrier Code Prefix area allows you to set up carrier codes the system will automatically use
when the leading digits are dialed. A carrier code is prefixed to the phone number dialed by the
user. It tells the telephone line service provider to route the call to an alternative carrier. For
example, the carrier code could be a calling card number and PIN number. ARS determines the
carrier code based on the leading digits and the time of day.
1. If the route requires one carrier code for the whole day:
a) Enter the carrier code in Carrier code 1.
b) Clear the Carrier code 2 checkbox.
2. If the route requires two carrier codes, one for each part of the day:
a) Enter the first carrier code in Carrier code 1.
b) Enter Start time 1.
c) Select the Carrier code 2 checkbox.
d) Enter the second carrier code in Carrier code 2.
e) Enter Start time 2.
Emergency service numbers
The Emergency Service Numbers area lists the emergency service numbers that cannot be blocked
by toll restriction.
Auto route selection
The Auto Route Selection area allows you to set the inter-digit timeout (IDT), and to select the
hunt groups that are subject to ARS.
1. Select the Inter-digit timeout (IDT). The default value is 5 seconds. Choices range from 3
seconds to 18 seconds.
ARS and toll restriction are implemented on each call once the longest matching entry is
found in the ARS table or after the IDT expires. If the user has dialed a number and it’s a
possible match for an entry in the ARS table, the system will pause until the IDT expires. To
complete a dialed number before the IDT expires, the user can press #.
For example, the ARS table has 12345. The user dials hunt group 88 to use the TalkSwitch
VoIP network, and dials VoIP number 1234. This is a possible match for entry 12345, so
system will pause until the IDT expires. The user can press # to complete the call.
2. Select the hunt groups that are subject to ARS and toll restriction.
