Internet
A global network connecting
millions of computers. Unlike
online service networks (.com,
.ca, .net, etc.) which are
centrally controlled, the
Internet is decentralized by
design. Each Internet computer
(called ‘host’), is independent.

Key Telephone System
Each telephone unit in a Key
Telephone System controls
access to telephone lines and
calling features internally.
Users can get direct access to
telephone lines by pressing a
key (or button) on their
telephone.
LED
Light Emitting Diode — An
electronic device that lights up
when electricity is passed
through it. LEDs are used in
displays on electronic devices
like computers. TalkSwitch has
five LEDs on its front panel.
They show which telephone is
in use, if data is being
transferred to or received from
an attached PC and the Mode
setting.
Link button
On most telephones, pressing
the Link button has the same
effect as pressing the Flash
button or pressing and
releasing the ‘hang up’ hook.
On some telephones, the
function of the Link button is
internal to the telephone and
pressing it has no effect on
TalkSwitch.
Modem
Acronym for MODulator-
DEModulator. A modem is a
device or program that
converts digital information
stored on a Computer into
analog signals for transmission
over telephone lines. In
reverse, it converts analog into
digital signals.
Modes
The TalkSwitch supports
different time and day modes
of operation, providing
different call management
depending on the current mode
of operation.
Monitor (TalkSwitch Monitor)
A feature included with the
Software Configuration
package. The Monitor provides
a graphical representation of
telephone traffic as it flows
through the TalkSwitch
system.
Network
A group of two or more
computer systems linked
