Entering Carrier codes and start times.
What is a carrier code?
A carrier code is a carrier selection prefix that precedes the normally dialled
digits to instruct the telephone line service provider that the call is to be
routed to an alternative carrier.
To use a carrier selection code:
1. Enter the carrier code in Carrier Code 1 corresponding to the leading digit
entry.
2. If a second alternative carrier code is to be used at different times of the
day:
a) uncheck All-Day,
b) enter the start time of the first carrier code in Start Time 1,
c) enter the second carrier’s code in Carrier Code 2 and
d) enter the second carrier’s start time in Start Time 2.
If only one carrier is used for limited hours of the day:
a) uncheck All-Day,
b) enter the start time in Start Time 1, and
c) enter the finishing time in Start Time 2, leaving the second carrier
code field blank.
A carrier code can be up to 24 digits long, including “*”, comma “,” (for 2-
second pause); and “w” (for wait-for-dial-tone). A 2-second pause is
automatically added after dialling a carrier code.
2.2.5.1 Activating ARS and Toll Restriction
To activate ARS and Toll Restriction:
1. Open the TalkSwitch Configuration program.
2. Select System Information -> Auto Route Selection.
Use of Carrier Selection Prefix and Carrier Codes may require subscription
to a carrier’s discount calling plan. This service may not be available in
some countries and on some telephone companies’ telephone lines.
Carrier Selection Prefix may not be required if a “Pre-Selection” service is
provided by the telephone line service provider.
