8. Solid Surface Material: ½" Solid polymer fabrication
material; cast, filled acrylic or polyester; not coated,
laminated or of composite construction meeting ANSI Z124.
Corian by Dupont or Surell by Formica Corporation. Matte
finish with gloss range of 5-20. Submit 2" x 2" x 1/4"
samples for color / pattern selection by the architect.
Material shall comply with;
a. NSF standard 51 for use in food service areas;
b. Shall not support Fungi & Bacteria growth per ISO
846-1978 Method A, Method B and Bacteria tests;
c. Resistance to wear, impact and stains per ANSI Z124;
d. Does not support Fungal or Bacterial growth per ASTM G21
& G22;
e. Meets ANSI/NEMA LD3 resistance to heat, impact and
abrasion;
f. Meets ASTM E84 Class 1 flame spread / smoke developed
rating.
Material size and opening location variation +/- 1/8". 10
year limited warranty against material manufacturing defect.
Superficial damage to 1/32" deep repairable by sanding or
polishing. Adhesively joined and secured in place with
manufactures recommended materials and procedures; no
exposed seams; edge details as shown. Comply with
manufacturers recommendations for inlay of other materials
and support / reinforcement of installed surfaces. Fabricate
in longest lengths possible per technical information.
Keep components & hands clean during installation; remove
adhesives, sealants and stains; protect surfaces from damage
until date of Substantial Completion; repair or replace
damaged work that cannot be repaired to Architects/Food
Facility Consultants satisfaction. Provide maintenance,
use and care information with maintenance binders.
B. Specification of Standard for Custom Fabricated or Modified
Equipment:
1. Following are general specifications, for all custom
fabricated equipment to be specified hereinafter, and shall
be closely followed where referred to by work "Standard",
"Specification of Standard", "Standard Specification", or
where otherwise applicable.
