D. Design layout and overall size of walk-in units as shown on plans
and as specified. Shall be overall size 6'-9 ½" wide x 17'-9
3/4" long x 8'-6" high from exterior top to bottom of pre-fab
floor. Unit shall be installed on recessed floor/slab
furnished by General Contractor, see detail on drawings.
Install floor at same elevation as finished kitchen floor.
E. Provider of walk-in is required to field measure locations of
walls and other building constraints and provide walk-in to fit
such conditions. Provide column block outs where shown.
F. Walk-in with minimum R-28, 4" insulated floor designed to with
stand uniformly distributed loads of minimum 600 lbs per square
foot. 16 ga. galvanized steel on all surfaces. Coordinate
walk-in installation with General Contractor. Walk-in shall
set on an 8-1/2"D. recessed concrete floor leveled with ½" of
fill sand as detailed. Walk-in wear surface shall be 4"
concrete (ref. general) atop insulated floor panels. Walk-in
wearing surface flush with adjacent kitchen floors. Provide 6
mil. polyethylene film vapor barrier on warm side of floor and
wall panels in the recess. FSC shall provide operating fans or
install and have evaporators wired to thoroughly ventilate box
interior, WITH DOOR REMOVED, while concrete is curing. GC shall
provide concrete fill around perimeter of box with redwood / stub
panel thermal break at the door before pouring the interior
reinforced concrete wear surface. Redwood / stub panel thermal
break at door shall completely break any continuity between
interior and exterior floor surfaces. Food service contractor
is responsible for protecting interior walls of walk-in for
installation of interior concrete.
G. Construct all exterior and interior surfaces of .032" stucco
patterned aluminum, insulate walk-in throughout, with 4"
foamed-in-place, rigid U.L. fire rated, flame retardent type
polyurethane insulation sandwiched in between. Polyurethane
insulation shall meet ASTME-84 flame spread of less than 25.
Minimum "R" factor of 32 for both refrigerator and freezer.
Insulation shall be blown using a non-CFC content blowing agent.
