Transmission Oil Filter and Magnetic Screen - Replace/Clean
5. Housing (10) fo
r the suction screen is located
below the transmission on the left side of the
scraper engine. Clean the area around housing
(10) for the su
ction screen.
6. Remove line (9) from housing (10). Drain the oil
intoasuitab
le container.
7. Install the line.
Note: Clean the suction screen at this time. Refer to
Operation and Maintenance Manual, “Suction Screen
(Transmiss
ion Scavenge) - Clean” for the proper
procedure.
8. Clean the a
rea around oil filler cap (7). Remove
the oil filler cap. Fill the transmission with oil
through the filler tube to the “FULL” mark in sight
gauge (6).

Manual, “Capacities (Refill)” and Operation and
Maintenance Manual, “Lubricant Viscosities” for
addition
al information.
9. Clean the oil filler cap. Install the oil filler cap.
10. Start the engine for the tractor. Start the engine
for the scraper. Run the engines at low idle.
11. Inspect the transmission for leaks.
12. Slowly o
perate the transmission control in order
to circulate the oil.
13. Mainta
in the oil level between the “FULL” and
“ADD” marks in sight gauge (6). Add oil through
the filler tube, if necessary.
14. Stop the engines.

suitable to
collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar
products.
Dispose of a
ll fluids according to local regulations and
mandates.

Transmission Oil Filter

Transmission oil filter housing (2) is located on the
top left side of the transmission case at the left rear
of th
etractor.
1. Park the machine on level ground. Engage the
park
ing brake.
2. Lower the bowl to the ground. Stop the engine.
3. Clean the transmission oil filter housing. Clean the
area around the cover for the transmission oil filter
hou
sing. Clean the area around drain plug (3).
4. Remove the drain plug. Allow the oil to drain into a
su
itable container.
5. Remove bolts (1) from the transmission oil filter
ho
using. Remove the cover from the transmission
oil filter housing.

emove the used filter element and discard the
used filter element according to local regulations.
