The air tank for the scraper is on the right rear side
of the scraper.
Open drain valve (2). Allow the moisture and the
sediment to drain into a suitable container. Close
valve (2).

NOTICE
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained
during performance of inspection, maintenance, test-
ing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to
collect the fluid with suitable containers before open-
ing any compartment or disassembling any compo-
nent containing fluids.
Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, “Caterpillar
Dealer Service Tool Catalog” for tools and supplies
suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar
products.
Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and
mandates.
1. Park the machine on level ground. Run the engine
at low idle.
2. Move the transmission control to the NEUTRAL
position. Engage the parking brake.
3. Lower the bowl to the ground. Open the apron.
Lock the apron in the RAISED position. Refer to
Operation and Maintenance Manual, “Blocking the
Bowl and Apron” for further information.
4. Stop the engine.

Note: The bearing is located on the lower end of the
auger.
5. Clean the area around screws (1) and cover (2).
6. Remove screws (1) a nd cover (2).

7. Clean the area around oil level/fill plug (3) and
vent plug (4).
8. Remove oil level/fill plug (3) and vent plug (4).
9. Ins
ert a 1U-7683 Suction Gun through the
opening for the oil level/fill plug. Suck the used oil
from the bearing housing.

10. Fill the bearing housing with oil until oil flows out
of the opening for the oil level/fill plug.
11. Clean the oil level/fill plug. Install the oil level/fill
plug.
12. Clean the vent plug. Install the vent plug.
