system due to condensation in the system. Moisture

on a machine that has been operating without an air
dryer. Several weeks may b e required in order to
completely
dry the system.

atmospheric pressure. Release the air pressure
from th
e air system completely before performing
maintenance.

The air tanks should have some air pressure.
Check the ai
r tanks at the end of the shift for moisture
and for sediment.
Moisture an
d sediment can accumulate in the air
tank. This can lead to a low reserve of air. The air
dryer may need to be serviced. Refer to Operation
and Mainte
nance Manual, “Air Dryer - Check” for
further information.
If oil is dr
aining from the tanks, consult your
Caterpillar dealer.

Three valves (1) are on the left side of the tractor.
The valves are located in the recess for the step.
Open the valves. Allow the moisture and the sediment
to drain into a suitable container. Close the valves.
