Hydraulic System Oil Filter (Pilot) - Replace
12. Fill the hydrau
lic tank to the proper level. Refer
to the following topics:

13. Inspect the
cap seal for damage. If the seal is
damaged, replace the seal.
14. Install th
ehydraulicoilller cap.
15. Start the machine. Run the machine at a low idle.
16. Check the hydraulic oil level. The oil level should
be above the “ADD” level in the sight gauge. Add
oil, if ne
cessary.
Note: The oil must be free from bubbles. If there are
bubbles i
n the oil, then air is entering the hydraulic
system. Inspect the suction hoses and the clamps. If
necessary, tighten any loose clamps and any loose
connect
ions. Replace any damaged hoses.
17. Stop the engine.

Dealer Service Tool Catalog for tools and supplies
suitable to
collect and contain uids on Caterpillar
products.
Dispose of a

mandates.

The p ilot oil lter is located at the left rear of the
tract
or behind the transmission lter.
1. Park the machine on a level surface and apply
the pa
rking brake.
2. Stop the engine. Lower the bowl to the ground.
3. Clean the area around the pilot oil lter.
4. Remo
ve the lter with a strap type wrench. Refer
to Operation and Maintenance Manual, Oil Filter -
Inspect”. Discard the used oil lter properly.
5. Clean the lter mounting base. Make sure that all
of the old lter seal has been removed.
6. Apply a thin lm of clean hydraulic oil to the seal
of the new lter.
7. Install the new lter hand tight until the seal of the
lter contacts the lter mounting base. Note the
po
sition of the index marks on the lter in relation
to a xed point on the lter mounting base.
