Engine Oil Sample - Obtain
The dipstick (4
) for the scraper engine is located on
the right side of the scraper.
1. Park the machi
ne on level ground. Lower the bowl
to the ground.
2. Remove the pa
dlock from the dipstick (if
equipped). Check the “ENGINE LOW IDLE”
side of the dipstick while the engine is running.
Maintain th
e oil level between the “ADD” mark and
the “FULL” mark.
Check the “E
NGINE STOPPED side of the
dipstick while the engine is stopped. Maintain the
oil level between the “ADD” mark and the “FULL”
mark.
Note: When you operate the machine on severe
slopes, th
e oil level in the engine crankcase must be
at the “FULL” mark o n the “ENGINE LOW IDLE” side
of the dipstick.
3. Clean the area around the oil ller cap (3). Remove
the padlock from the oil ller cap (if equipped).
Remove th
eoilller cap. If necessary, add oil.
4. Clean the oil ller cap and install the oil ller cap.
5. Install both padlocks (if equipped).

Engine oil sampling valve for the tractor
The sampling valve for the engine oil of the tractor
is located on the lter mounting base. The lter
mounting base is located on the right side of the
engine in the engine compartment.

is located on the lter mounting base. The lter
mounting base for the scraper is located on the left
side of the engine in the engine compartment.

Analysis” for information that pertains to obtaining a
sample of the engine oil. Refer to Special Publication,
PEHP6001, “How To Take A Good Oil Sample” for
more information about obtaining a sample of the
engine oil.

NOTICE
Care must be taken to ensure that uids are contained
during performance of inspection, maintenance, test-
ing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to
collect the uid with suitable containers before open-
ing any compartment or disassembling any compo-
nent containing uids.
Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, “Caterpillar
Tools and Shop Products Guide” for tools and supplies
suitable to collect and contain uids on Caterpillar
products.
Dispose of all uids according to local regulations and
mandates.
