Engine Oil (High Speed) and Oil Filter - Change
Note: There are
rotation index marks on the engine
oil filter that are spaced 90 degrees or 1/4 of a turn
away from each other. When you tighten the engine
oil filter, use
the rotation index marks as a guide.
8. Tighten the oil filter according to the instructions
that are prin
tedonthefilter. Use the index marks
as a guide for tightening the oil filter.
Note: You ma
y need to use a Caterpillar strap
wrench, or another suitable tool, in order to turn
the filter to the amount that is required for final
installati
on. Make sure that the installation tool does
not damage the filter.
9. Pump new oi
l into the engine. See the following

10. Remove t
he hose from the male coupler. Install
the dust cover.
11. Start th
e engine and allow the oil to warm. Check
the engine for leaks. Check the male fitting for
leaks. Check the filter for leaks. Shut off the
engine
.
12. Run the engine and check the oil level on oil
gauge
(3) after the engine has been running
for ten minutes. Maintain the oil between the
marks on the “LOW IDLE” side of the oil gauge. If
neces
sary, add oil.
Proc
edure for the Scraper
1. Park the machine on a level surface. Shut off the
engi
ne. Apply the parking brake.

2. Clean the area a
round dust cover (4) for the male
quick coupler that is on the hose. Remove the
dust cover. Clean the male fitting.
3. Remove the dust cover from female fitting of the
suction hose. Clean the female fitting. Attach the
suction hose
to the male fi tting. Remove the oil
from the engine.

4. Remove engine oil filter (6) with a strap type
wrench. Refer to Operation and Maintenance
Manual, “Oil Filter - Inspect”.
5. Clean the filter mounting base with a clean
towel. Make sure that the old filter seal has been
removed.
6. Apply a thin film of clean engine oil to the seal of
the new engine oil filter.
7. Install the new engine oil filter hand tight until
the seal of the engine oil filter contacts the fi lter
mounting base. Note the position of the index
marks on the filter in relation to a fixed p oint on
the filter mounting base.
Note: There are rotation index marks on the engine

that are printed on the filter. Use the index marks
as a guide for tightening the oil filter.
