ot allow hot oil or hot components to
contact skin.
NOTICE
Care must be taken to ensure that uids are contained
during performance of inspection, maintenance, test-
ing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to
collect the uid with suitable containers before open-
ing any compartment or disassembling any compo-
nent containing uids.
Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, “Caterpillar
Tools and Shop Products Guide” for tools and supplies
suitable to collect and contain uids on Caterpillar
products.
Dispose of all uids according to local regulations and
mandates.
Your machine may be equipped with a high speed
arrangement for changing the engine oil. The high
speed arrangement allows the oil to be quickly
withdrawn. The high speed arrangement allows the
oil to be quickly replaced.
The high speed arrangement has a hose which is
attached to the oil pan at the drain hole. The other
end of the hose has a quick coupler.
Note: Drain the crankcase while the oil is warm. This
allows waste particles that are suspended in the oil to
drain. As the oil cools, the waste particles will settle
to the bottom of the crankcase. The particles w ill not
be removed by draining the oil and the particles will
recirculate in the engine lubrication system with the
new oil.
Procedure for the Tractor
1. Park the machine on a level surface. Shut off the
engine. Apply the parking brake.

2. Clean the area around dust cover (1) for the male
quick coupler that is on the hose. Remove the
dust cover. Clean the male tting.
3. Remove the dust cover from female tting of the
suction hose. Clean the female tting. Attach the
suctionhosetothemaletting. Remove the oil
from the engine.

4. Remo
ve engine oil lter (2) with a strap type
wrench. Refer to Operation and Maintenance
Manual, “Oil Filter - Inspect”.
5. Clean the lter mounting base with a clean
towel. Make sure that the old lter seal has been
rem
oved.
6. Apply a thin lm of clean engine oil to the seal of
th
e new engine oil lter.
7. Install the new engine oil lter hand tight until
th
e seal of the engine oil lter contacts the lter
mounting base. Note the position of the index
marks on the lter in relation to a xed p oint on
t
he lter mounting base.
