Engine Air Filter Secondary Element - Replace
Do not use paint
, a waterproof cover, or plastic as a
protective covering for storage. An air ow restriction
may result. To protect against dirt and damage, wrap
the primary ai
r lter elements in Volatile Corrosion
Inhibited (VCI) paper.
Place the pri
mary air lter element into a box for
storage. For identication, mark the outside of the
box and mark the primary air lter element. Include
the followi
ng information:
Date of cleaning
Number of cleanings
Store the b
oxinadrylocation.

NOTICE
Always replace the secondary element. Do not at-
tempt to reuse it by cleaning. Engine damage could
result.
Note: Replace the engine air lter secondary element
when you service the engine air lter primary element
for the third time. Replace the secondary element
if the exhaust smoke remains black and a clean
primary element has been installed. Also, replace
the secondary element if the element has been in
serviceforoneyear.
1. Remove the air cleaner cover and the primary
element.

emove the secondary element.
3. Cover the air inlet opening. Clean the inside of
the air cleaner housing.
4. Uncover the air
inlet opening. Install a new
secondary element.
5. Install the pr
imary element and the air cleaner
cover.
6. Repeat Step 1
through Step 5 for the scraper.
