1. Park the machine on level ground. Run the engine
at low idle
.
2. Move the transmission control to the NEUTRAL
position
. Engage the parking brake.
3. Lower the bowl to the ground. Open the apron.
Lock the a
pron in the RAISED position. Refer to
Operation and Maintenance Manual, “Blocking the
Bowl and Apron” for further information.
4. Stop the engine.

Note: A damaged cutting edge may cause the auger
to stall.
5. Inspect the auger for worn components. Rotate or
replace any worn components.
The worn components may be rotated before new
parts are needed. The cost of operating the auger
is reduced by rotating the worn components. The
following components may be rotated:
•
Wear Shoes (1)
•
Cutting Edges (2)
6. Inspect the auger for any loose hardware. Tighten
any loose hardware.
Wear Shoes (1)
The wear shoes that are located on the lower one
half of the auger will wear faster than the wear shoes
that are located on the upper one half of the auger.
If the wear shoes are worn, you may rotate the wear
shoes that are located on the lower one half of the
auger with the wear shoes that are located on the
top one half of the auger.
Note: You should replace the wear shoes once the
wear shoes have been rotated and the wear shoes
arewornout.
1. Remove the hardware which holds the wear shoes
to the auger.
2. Rotate the wear shoes that are on the lower one
half of the auger with the wear shoes that are on
the upper one half of the auger.
3. Install the hardware.
Cutting Edges (2)
The cutting edges are located at the bottom of the
auger. The cutting edge may be rotated 180 degrees
when the cutting edge is worn.
Note: You should replace the cutting edges once
the cutting edges have been rotated and the cutting
edges are worn out.
1. Remove the bolts which hold the cutting edges
in place.
2. Rotate cutting edge (2).
3. Install the bolts.

Backup Alarm - Test
SMCS Code: 7406-081
The backup alarm is on the rear of the machine.
1. Turn the engine start switch to the ON position in
order to perform the test.
2. Apply the service brakes.
3. Move the transmission control lever to the
REVERSE position. The backup alarm should
start to sound immediately.
