Inhibit Command (!MSRI)
This command is available to inhibit fault reporting and communication
between the off-line and on-line controllers. This facility MUST be used
before removing an off-line system controller from the multiplexer. If this
facility is not used, removal of an off-line system controller may result in
corruption of data through the multiplexer. The 'Inhibit' condition will
remain for 2 minutes after which time communication and fault reporting
will resume as normal. On re-insertion of the off-line system controller,
the user must wait for the 2 minutes to expire and the card to configure
before they can remove the card again using the above method.
If the off-line system controller is not communicating, the message
'Unable to verify offline system controller inhibited. Corruption could result
upon removal of offline system controller'
will be displayed.
If the off-line system controller is not present, the message
'Offline system controller not fitted'
will be displayed to the user.
If the off-line system controller is receiving data from the on-line system
controller the following message will be displayed.
'Offline system controller configuring'
If the command is repeated within the two minutes inhibition time, the
message
'Offline system controller inhibited for the next XXX seconds'
will be displayed to the user, where XXX is the time remaining that the
system controller will remain inhibited.
Removing and Replacing a System Controller
The following procedure should be carefully followed to ensure correct
operation of the redundant switch at a later date.
i) If the system controller to be removed is the on-line system controller
use !MSRO to change it over to off-line.
ii) On the now ‘on-line’ unit use the !MSRI command and ensure the
message indicating the off-line system controller has been inhibited
for 120 seconds is displayed.
iii) Remove the off-line system controller from the multiplexer.
