?> This prompt is given after an invalid input line which may be due
to an invalid menu selection, or an invalid parameter for a
particular command, in this case an error message would have
already been displayed in brief and verbose modes.
2.1.3 Special Input Control Characters
The following input characters have special meanings:
Esc Aborts the current input. If entering parameters, the current
command is aborted, if selecting from a menu the current
menu is aborted and its parent menu becomes the current
menu. 'Esc' will always insert a CRLF and the 3200 will
prompt for another input line.
! This character is primarily intended for computer control of the
unit, its function is similar to 'Esc' but the root menu becomes
the current menu. If echo is enabled, the character is echoed.
Ctrl+S <XOFF> Instructs the unit to cease serial data transmission
Ctrl+Q <XON> Instructs the unit to re-commence serial data
transmission
Ctrl+X Used as a means of escape from the control of a remote unit.
Sending Ctrl+X from the console will cause the unit to transmit
XOFF to the remote unit and return control to the local unit.
All other characters, including Ctrl+W, are considered to be menu
selections or parameters, all lower case input will be forced, and if
enabled, echoed in upper case.
2.1.4 General Conventions for Verbose Prompts and Messages
In verbose mode the 3200 provides useful prompting information for menu
selection and parameter entry, these prompts follow some general
conventions.
Where possible all prompts will be on a single 80 character line ending
with one of the special prompt characters. If used with a terminal, input
from the user will be echoed following the prompt on the same line.
For menu selection the prompt will consist of a list of options separated by
