5.5 Remote Menu
5.5.1 Operation (Non Network Mode)
Networking must be disabled in the 'Install' menu for this mode of
operation. In this mode the multiplexer may use network management
data paths for point to point control of the remote equipment.
In the example below the operator has selected 'Remote' to obtain a menu
response from a 3400 (id G24) located remotely to the multiplexer. After
this menu was received the operator entered the exit command, Ctrl +X,
(not echoed) to return to the local multiplexer menu.

5.5.2 Operation (Networking Mode)
When operated in network mode in conjunction with the NCS, this menu
gives node to node control and messaging facilities.

The operator now has control of equipment D01 via the Network
Management System. Ctrl+X will restore control to the local unit.
Messages: One single line of text may be transmitted or displayed in
message mode. The operator will be prompted for the unit identity to
which it is required to send the message. Received messages can be
viewed using the 'list' option. If a message has been received which has
not been viewed the following will be displayed when remote is selected.
