INSTALLATION LOCATION DO NOT install the Wi−Fi kit inside a metal enclosure. The Wi−Fi kit does not need to be installed in the occupied space. For wood stud buildings, it is acceptable to install the Wi−Fi kit in an unconditioned attic or an air conditioned closet. In the event of a metal stud building, install the Wi−Fi kit inside the conditioned space in a discrete location as agreed to with the home owner or property manager. ! CAUTION The Wi−Fi kit is designed for indoor use only.
INSTALLATION 1. Remove power from the indoor unit. 2. Obtain access to the PCB control board of the indoor unit removing the control box cover. 3. Remove the mounting plate from the Wi−Fi translator PCB by inserting a standard flat screwdriver into the slots in the lower part of the translator. Fig. 3 - Removing upper part of Wi−Fi Translator 4. Connect the provided 4 core shielded wire.
5. Insert the Wi−Fi dongle into the female USB port with the QR code visible (see Fig. 5). Fig. 5 - Insert Wi−Fi Dongle on USB Port Fig.
6. Mount the back plate to a wall or stable stationary surface using the field supplied screws. Fig. 7 - Mount the back plate to a wall 7. Install the wiring to the indoor unit following one of the options listed below: a. For exposed mounting, there are two outlet positions. Top side wire outlet Bottom side wire outlet Fig.
b. For through the wall wiring: Wiring through the wall Wiring hole and wall hole Diameter of wall hole: .79 in (20mm) Fig. 9 - Through the wall wiring NOTE: Avoid the water entering into the Wi−Fi Kit, using a trap and a putty to seal the connectors of wires during wiring installation Putty Trap Putty Trap Fig.
8. Reattach the upper part of the Wi−Fi translator to the back plate. After re−attaching the upper part avoid clamping the wiring during installation. Fig. 11 - Reattaching the upper part of the Wi−Fi translator 9. Re−install the control box cover on the indoor unit. 10. Power up the system 11. Using the supplied Wireless Remote controller, set the unit in AP mode pointing it out to the Infrared receiver of the indoor unit.
INSTALLATION METHOD FOR THE WIRED CONTROLLER (OPTIONAL) 1. Remove the top cover from the body of the Wi−Fi Translator by inserting a small standard screw driver in the slit at the bottom of body and twisting. 2. Use the connective cable to connect the wire controller to CN3 of the Wi−Fi translator PCB. NOTE: Refer to the wired controller manual for details.
