Part 1 – General
1.01 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
A. Outdoor-mounted, air-cooled split system outdoor section suitable for on-the-ground,
rooftop, wall hung, balcony, or under-deck installation. Unit shall consist of a hermetic
reciprocating, scroll, or rotary compressor, an air-cooled coil, propeller-type blow-thru
outdoor fans, reversing valve, accumulator, holding refrigerant charge (full refrigerant
charge for 38BK009,012), heating mode metering device, and control box. Unit shall
discharge air horizontally as shown on the contract drawings. Units shall function as the
outdoor component of an air-to air cooling and heating system.
B. Units shall be used in a refrigeration circuit matched to a duct-free cooling fan coil unit
or an approved ducted cooling fan coil unit.
1.02 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Unit construction shall comply with ANSI/ASHRAE 15, latest revision, and with the
NEC.
B. Units shall be constructed in accordance with UL standards.
C. Units shall be listed in the CEC directory.
D. Unit cabinet shall be capable of withstanding Federal Test Standard No. 141 (method
6061) 500-hour salt spray test.
E. Air-cooled condenser coils shall be leak tested at 350 psig air pressure with the coil
submerged in water.
1.03 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
Units shall be shipped in one piece and shall be stored and handled per unit
manufacturer’s recommendations.
