Upgrading Thuraya SatBridge Smart Terminal
Check for the latest firmware update for Thuraya SatBridge firmware anytime from within the
SatBridge App. This upgrade information is only available for users with Owner and
Administrator account types. The firmware is downloaded to the SatBridge App from the
internet using any available internet connection such as Home Wi-Fi or LTE. The SatBridge App
then transfers the firmware to the Thuraya SatBridge using SatBridge Wi-Fi and begins the
upgrade process terminal.
NOTE: It is not recommended to update Thuraya SatBridge in the field. Satellite
connection is not required for upgrading Thuraya SatBridge.
If you are an owner or administrator, follow the steps below to upgrade your Thuraya
SatBridge.
1. Disconnect your mobile device from the Thuraya SatBridge Wi-Fi connection and
connect your mobile device internet either through your home Wi-Fi or via the mobile’s
LTE connection.
NOTE: The SatBridge App does not allow a firmware download over a satellite
connection.
2. Tap Settings > SatBridge Firmware in the SatBridge App.
3. Tap Check for update to know if there is an available update
4. If there is an available update, you can update the Thuraya SatBridge using one of the
two methods.
5. Upgrade Using USB Stick method
a. For this method, you should have USB stick with more than 200 MB free space.
b. Tap USB stick and follow the instructions on SatBridge App

NOTE: The SatBridge App does not allow a firmware download over a satellite
connection.
6. Upgrading using Over-the-air method
a. For this method, you should have sufficient space on the mobile device
b. Tap ‘Over-the-air’ and follow the instructions on SatBridge App.
