TURNTABLE BEARING
While turntable bearings require almost no
attention, what little they are given will pay
big dividends in long life, high performance,
and trouble free service. Lubricate the
bearing every 100 operating hours. When
greasing the turntable bearing, lower the
cutter wheel to the ground. Apply grease to
the grease fitting shown at the right. Lift the
cutter wheel off the ground, rotate the upper
frame 90°, lower the cutter wheel, and apply
grease again. Repeat this procedure until the
upper frame has been rotated 360°, greasing
the turntable bearing for a full rotation.
Idle equipment should not be neglected.
Grease dries out and “breathing” due to
temperature changes can cause condensation
within the bearing. Whether used or not, the
bearing should have grease introduced every
6 months.
Be alert to changes in rotation, unusual
sounds, and vibrations.
SWING GEAR
The swing gear needs to be greased every
100 hours of operation. When greasing the
swing gear, lower the cutter wheel to the
ground. Apply grease to the grease fitting
shown at the right. Lift the cutter wheel off
the ground, rotate the upper frame 90°,
lower the cutter wheel, and apply grease
again. Repeat this procedure until the upper
frame has been rotated 360°, greasing the
swing gear for a full rotation.
