Single or Multiple Gang
Box Extender
For Single Electrical Device Applications
1. Turn off the electrical power to the receptacle or wall switch.
2. Remove the cover plate. Pull the receptacle or wall switch out from
electrical box.
3. Slide the box extender over the existing receptacle or wall switch.
4. Push the box extender into the electrical box until its anges rest
against the nished wall surface (Figure 1).
5. Use the longer #6-32 screws provided and tighten the receptacle or
wall switch to the electrical box.
6. Re-install the cover plate. Turn the electrical power back on.
For Multiple Electrical Device Applications (such as two receptacles)
1. Turn off the electrical power to the receptacles or wall switches.
2. Remove the cover plate. Pull the receptacles and/or wall switches out
from electrical box.
3. Slide one box extender, with side clips facing to the right, over the
leftmost receptacle or wall switch. Push the box extender and
receptacle or wall switch into the box until the box extender anges rest
on the nished wall surface.
4. Slide another box extender over the next receptacle or wall switch to
the right (Figure 2). Push the box extender and receptacle or wall switch
down into the box.
5. Slide the back edge of the next box extender into the side clips at the
back of the adjacent box extender (Figure 3). Then press the two holes
in the top ange onto the two raised posts on the adjacent box
extender’s top ange.
6. When assembled together, two box extenders will look like Figure 4.
Note that additional box extenders can be assembled next (ganged)
to the original two box extenders in order to accommodate 3 gang,
4 gang, and more applications.
7. Use the longer #6-32 screws provided and tighten the receptacle or
wall switch to the electrical box.
8. Re-install the cover plate. Turn the electrical power back on.
The box extender is not to be used to secure any other product.
Improper grounding can result in a risk of electrical shock.
A receptacle must be properly grounded in accordance with all applicable
local codes and ordinances after the box extender is installed. Check with
a qualied electrician if you are in doubt as to whether the product is
properly grounded.
The box extender is not for use with an isolated grounding receptacle.
