Inspect bolt carrier key and bolt carrier. If unserviceable, replace defective parts as authorized in WP 0039.

NOTE
Do not reuse old carrier key screws. New carrier key screws must be used at
assembly.
1. If disassembled, place bolt carrier (3) in vise using vise jaw caps. Install and position bolt carrier key
(2) on bolt carrier.
2. Install two new carrier key screws (1).

3. Use a tight-fitting 1/8 in. socket head screw wrench attachment and an inch-pound torque wrench to
torque carrier key screws (1) to 50 to 58 in-lb (5.65 to 6.55 N-m).
