5 Maintenance
E After 2000 oz (60 liters) of water have flowed through, the fil-
ter will cease to work. Your IMPRESSA will automatically
prompt you to change the filter.
E After three months, the filter will cease to work. You can check
the elapsed time by referring to the date plate on the filter
holder in the water tank.
E If the CLEARYL Blue filter cartridge is not activated in program-
ming mode, you will not be prompted to change the filter.
Precondition: ‘Change filter’ is displayed.
O T Press the P button.

T Press the ‘Change the filter’ button.

E If you do not want to start changing the filter just yet, press
the ‘’ button. The prompt ‘Change filter’ remains active.
T Press the ‘Next’ button.

T Remove and empty the water tank.
T Open the filter holder and remove the old CLEARYL Blue fil-
ter cartridge and filter extension.
T Fit the filter extension on top of a new filter cartridge.
T Insert the filter cartridge into the water tank, exerting slight
pressure.
T Close the filter holder. It will click into place audibly.
T Fill the water tank with fresh, cold water and reinsert the
tank.
T Place a receptacle (at least 17 oz or 500 ml) under the cap-
puccino frother.
T Turn the setting wheel of the cappuccino frother to the
Steam position n.
T Press the ‘Next’ button.
‘Filter is being rinsed.’, water flows out of the cappuccino
frother.
