HOW TO CARE FOR TEAK:
Teak is resistant, durable, highly stable, and porous. It naturally is moisture resistant, repels
insects, and impervious to drying, rotting, warping, shrinking, swelling, and fungus.
Without maintenance, your teak will develop a beautiful silver-gray patina. To preserve its
golden color, we advise you to treat it periodically with wood brightener and wood oil.
CLEANING THE TEAK:
Teak naturally resists decay; however, mildew can form on its surface when subjected to the
elements for long periods of time. This does not affect the quality of the wood and can be
washed off.
For cleaning, wet the wood and apply a mild cleaning solution and scrub the surface with a soft-
bristle brush.
TREATING THE TEAK:
For this treatment you will need a sealer for teak, cloths for wiping off excess product, and a flat
brush. The wood must be dry and clean before you begin. It’s also important to use appropriate
protective equipment, such as a face mask (working indoors), safety goggles, and protective
gloves.
1. Sand the piece of furniture with sandpaper (180-grit).
2. Clean it with a slightly damp cloth to remove dust.
3. Apply the product with a flat brush or a cloth proceeding in small sections with the grain.
It is important to use regular brushstrokes to obtain a uniform finish. Wood oil should be
applied in several layers until the wood cannot absorb anymore product.
4. Make sure the application is uniform, otherwise make the surface uniform with a dry,
clean cloth. In case of splashing, remove it immediately with a clean cloth.
5. Let the product penetrate for 12 hours (dry to the touch), & let it completely dry
6. Use covers when teak furniture is not in use
7. Regular treatments of wood is necessary for continued maintenance.
