Wood Foundations
It’s all about that base, no wobble! Foundations will save you time and effort in the long run. They
are important to maintain the structural integrity and alignment of your shed, especially during
inclement weather. Foundations will also prevent water from pooling within your structure. Follow
the tips below to create the sturdy foundation your shed needs.
1. Measure the Thickness: The
foundation should be a minimum of 4”
thick
2. Check the Extension: The foundation
should extend beyond each of the
length/width dimensions of your shed’s
base

1. Obtain Exterior Grade Wood: Sheds need to
be constructed with exterior grade wood as
this type of wood is treated and approved for
outdoor use
2. Position The Footings: Place your wood
foundation on pier blocks or footings to set
your shed up for success
